Be The Sunshine

In February 2018 we embarked on a journey to bring Stylus & Crate from an idea on a piece of paper to a community gathering place created from our mission and values, “Be The Sunshine”.

We have always desired to be more than a coffee shop; we wanted to make an impact and inspire others to do the same.  We wanted to be an intentional change agent, and we committed to ensuring our decisions were anchored to our mission.  We believe so much in that mission that we dedicated a wall to it in our shop for all to see and also to hold ourselves accountable.

Having a background in the natural and organic food industry in both product development and retail management, I have had the  privilege of working for and with some of the most influential and inspiring companies in terms of sustainability and impact.   All of this inspired my passion and provided resources and a knowledge base to work from.

At Stylus & Crate, we strive to take a holistic approach to our green mission goals, from ethically sourcing the highest quality natural and organic ingredients to daily sustainable and environmental execution, as well as a commitment to recycle and renew in all aspects of our business.

Our brand and concept was built from the platform of vinyl records, which was meant to be more than just a fun concept; it represents all we stand for.  Listening to music from a vinyl record is the most intentional way to listen to recorded music. Listening and sharing your favorite music is not a passive task; it is an intentional act of selecting an album, looking at cover art, cleaning the vinyl, and placing the vinyl on the turntable. Then 20 minutes later you do it all again.  That intentional act is a reminder every day for our team to be intentional in what we do.  Of course building a concept and brand around a recording platform that is recycled and reused time and time again is a foundation for our sustainability.
